Boule History
- Boule Diagnostics AB is a global diagnostics company that develops, manufactures and markets instruments and consumable products for blood diagnostics. Boule serves hospitals, clinics, laboratories and companies within blood diagnostics market. The company operates via subsidiaries in Sweden, the USA, Mexico and Russia. Products are sold globally primarily through distributors, supported by Boule’s own local sales and support personnel. The Boule shares are listed on Nasdaq Stockholm since 2011.
- The business was founded in 1992 with the acquisition of Karo Bio Diagnostics AB. But the company’s history goes back to the 1950′s when the founder of Swelab Instrument AB, Erik Öhlin, developed Europe’s first automatic blood cell counter. This is an early predecessor of today’s instruments from Boule.
- The name Boule was selected to ‘stand out’ from the traditional nomenclature of companies in the Life Science industry in general, and the IVD industry in particular. It’s easy to remember and usually triggers people to think, which is a space of the human mind you typically would like to occupy. The name Boule also associates with a commonly known game where players cast metal balls (or bowls) as close as possible to a target. Success requires both skill and precision, something we believe it makes sense to be associated with, even though we are engaged in the very serious business of helping the healthcare profession make better diagnostic decisions. Because even when you are not playing games, we believe that professional life should still be fun and worthwhile.
